Lemme just start off by saying that I'm writing this from work. This job is torture. I couldn't be less happy. Misery is too simple of a word to descibe this agony. I want out. I want to leave this pit and do something interesting. I have no motivation. I get no rewards. There are no real challenges, and the challenges that occasionally crop up aren't the kind I enjoy dealing with. I guess I'll just continue waiting and hoping for something more enjoyable. It will happen...eventually. I just hope this job hasn't made me too damn stupid by then.

Well...if you're looking for anything that I host across to my Winderz box (mainly my digital camera images), it's going to be temporarily unavailable this weekend. Why you ask? Simple! My Winderz box (aka main gaming/killin' machine) has been temporarily relocated to the ChaosLAN. Sorry for the inconvenience. Now back to the killin'...

I put up my latest creation...the Text Terminal screen saver can be found here. It's not exactly what I wanted, but it's pretty damn close...and was completed with a minimal amount of effort. It's not nearly as cool as phosphor running in Linux with curl pointed at the web voyeur...but I like it nonetheless. I guess overall it was a good exercise in just how painful it is to work directly with the Windows API...lesson learned! Anyway, I like it as a screen saver. The web voyeur stuff just fascinates me. Stop reading this and go download it or something.

I dropped a bunch of money this weekend on a new receiver...it's nice. No more running home entertainment on the stereo I've owned since I was a sophmore in high school...I've got some real equipment now! Whoopie! Time to get a subwoofer and a center channel...Muhahaha. I scored a copy of Clive Barker's Undying and played it for a while last night. Excellent game! I don't care what STM says, I can certainly feel the Clive influence. And...as much as I hate to admit it...certain parts have actually scared me. The down side is that the thing is pretty intensive and my PC is under par. I guess I'll dick with the configuration and see if I can get it to run a bit smoother.

Guess what? I share a birthday with Abraham Lincoln and Christina Ricci. I got my dart board hung up this afternoon. For some reason I have to wonder why they allow us to throw such pointy objects. And yes, as a matter of fact I do have a good use for that old can of franks and beans sitting in the back of your cupboard that you're never going to eat.

I finished my first entry into the 5k web design contest. I haven't submitted it yet because I'm not sure they have solidified everything for the 2001 contest. Check it out in art section...it's titled "authoring deconstructed".

Newly discovered fact: Anybody that prefers a trackball to a mouse shouldn't be allowed to own or operate a computer. Is it really a coincidence that the large building with the Purina logo is dangerously close to the animal shelter? I managed to get a hold of the Ohgr album "Welt" before its release. I still haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but it is strange. Not really at all what I expected, but I think I like it. Very popish, very technoish (for lack of a better term), but certainly interesting. Oh yeah, and I'm still a Napster junkie.

I managed to throw up a really simple page for the serial servo controller. Not a whole lot of content there yet, but at least its a start. If only the thing worked properly...bah.

Another update on the serial servo controller: Apparently I wasn't restoring the FSR register correctly in my interrupt handler...that is what caused the servo to jitter even when turned off... It will still jitter (albeit a very small amount) when turned on....more to come later...

Well, I've done quite a bit more work on the serial servo controller. I've finished implementing the pin/timer interrupt combination for handling incoming RS232. The method works and has been successfully incorporated into the servo control code. Note to self: "Interrupt flag bits get sent when an interrupt condition occurs regardless of the state of its corresponding enable bit or the global enable bit, GIE." - taken directly from the PIC data sheet. I could have saved mucho timeo by reading that in the first place. :) Unfortunately, the servo still jitters occasionally. Even when turned off. Obviously, this shouldn't happen. I'm off to more troubleshooting...
